| People's College: Community Conversations on Poverty "Even the poor have a right to think” Gustavo Gutirrez
In January 2006, QCC received CCHD grant funding to support the first phase of establishing Peoples College. The Peoples College/University of the Poor – School of Theology Poverty Seminar consisted of a two-week community wide educational seminar, in collaboration with the University of the Poor – School of Theology, on the persistence of poverty in the United States and the Thomas Jefferson Planning district. The goals of this community seminar were to heighten awareness concerning the issue of poverty, to make face-to-face connections between the poor and those who are not, and to deepen the local community’s commitment to meet the ongoing challenge of creating a more just and equitable society.
